Road Transport Specialist, EFZ

Have you ever wondered how an engine is built and how goods get from A to B? Do you find the mechanics of lorries fascinating and want to learn how to maximise the limited space available in them? V-ZUG AG offers training that equips you with future-proof skills in transport and logistics.

Registration trial apprenticeship

Are you interested in one of our apprenticeships and would like to learn more about a specific profession? Then sign up for a trial apprenticeship.

Your main tasks will include organising shipments, scheduling journeys and estimating how long it will take to load and unload goods. You will also be responsible for assessing the condition of the vehicle by inspecting the likes of wheels, brakes and lights, and for making sure there is sufficient fuel in the tank. On arrival at the customer’s premises, you will unload the goods and check that everything is in order. Moreover, your responsibilities will include cleaning the interior and exterior of vehicles, carrying out minor vehicle repairs and maintaining tools and equipment, in addition to driving lorries and checking transport, shipping and customs documents. Your duties will also include loading, unloading and securing goods, alongside vehicle cleaning and maintenance. In your role as a Road Transport Specialist, you will bear significant responsibility towards other road users, customers, the environment and the goods you transport, despite the considerable freedom the job offers.

Training

The three-year training programme consists of both basic and in-depth training in transport, toolmaking and freight forwarding. For the entire duration of your training, you will have the opportunity to reinforce the skills you have learned across different departments. Throughout the training period, you will attend compulsory vocational school classes 1–2 days a week. With V-ZUG AG’s consent, you can attend a vocational school offering a preparatory course for the baccalaureate examination alongside your work.
